Enhanced Coverage Option (ECO)

ECO is a crop insurance add-on that provides extra protection above your base MPCI policy (like RP or YP). It covers a portion of the "shallow losses" not protected by your underlying policy, with coverage from 86% up to 90% or 95% of expected revenue or yield. ECO uses county-level data — not your individual farm — to trigger payments, so if your county has a loss, you may receive a payment even if your farm didn’t.

Example:
You have an RP policy at 80% coverage for corn. You add ECO at the 90% level. If your county’s revenue falls to 83% of the expected benchmark, ECO pays for the 7% loss between 90% and 83% — even if your individual farm yield is fine.

ECO helps boost your protection against regional losses, especially in years with widespread but shallow damage.
